Dasia's Summer Wardrobe

With the warm summer months approaching, Dasia has been anxious to get a new summer wardrobe.  She was in luck, because I was pretty excited to work on new pieces for her.  Below are a few of the pieces I've completed thus far.  I will be working on a few more pieces today.  I'm hoping to make her a couple of bathing suits as well.  A few of the new pieces are already listed in my Etsy store, but most of them will be listed on Monday the 23rd.

This was Dasia yesterday.  She was tidying up her bedroom and getting ready to head out for the day.

She is wearing one of her new outfits.  Lime green Bermuda shorts with a striped top.  Hard to tell in these pictures, but there are lime green stripes in the top which makes it perfect for the shorts.

She has a quick chat with Benji,

puts on her blue cardigan,

Then heads out.

Another summer outfit.  With each piece being sold as separates, there will be lots of mix and match options.

I made her some wide leg white faux linen pants.  These are perfect for vacation, or a cruise.

Speaking of cruise, this boat neck blue and white stripe top has a nautical feel.

Of course the top looks great with the shorts, too.

This purple off the shoulder number dresses up the look for a nice night on the town.

Everyone needs a white tee as part of their summer wardrobe.

I spendtsome time on Pinterest and was inspired by quite a few outfits there.  This one popped out at me, and I knew Dasia would wear it well.

And I was right!

Summer just wouldn't be summer without jean shorts.

They will pair well with all the other tops and sweaters that will be offered.

I will end today with this houndstooth color blocked dress.

Like I said, there is more to come, so stay tuned for the next fashion show.

My Second Crocheted Piece

Well here is the second item I've crocheted.  I'm pleasantly surprised at how it turned out considering I was winging it.  Winging it is so much more fun than making and/or reading patterns.  I have NO intention on selling any crocheted items, but it will be nice to make pieces for my dolls.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.  Every day is your day, but hopefully today will be a special day for all of you.  Often times the time and energy you put into being great mothers go unnoticed, or are unappreciated.  Know this day, that it takes a special person to do what you do, and you are that special person!

"Hi guys.  Vanessa here, and I have my special godson here with me today.  I just can't believe how much he has grown in the past five years.  Time really flies."  (Vanessa)

"Hi sweetie.  It's so good to see you.  It's been crazy trying to get time with you with all that is going on in your life.  So I invited you here to share all your great news."  (Vanessa)
"Well, I dressed the part for the first piece of news.  As of May, 2016, I am a graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in Communications."  (Quentin)
"Congratulations!!!  You know I am ecstatic to hear that."  (Vanessa)

"Let me give you a big hug for that accomplishment.  That is so awesome."  (Vanessa)

"I happen to know you have even more exciting news to share than that."  (Vanessa)
"Yes.  Well, I got picked up as a free agent in the 2016 NFL Draft to play with the Philadelphia Eagles."  (Quentin)

"Did you guys hear that?  My godson will be playing in the NFL!  We are all extremely excited.  I'm mostly excited because he worked so hard to realize this dream, and it always feels great when hard work pays off."  (Vanessa)

"I love you so much.  I know you have to get out of here, because you are flying to Philadelphia today to get started.  I'm coming up there to see you play soon as humanly possible."  (Vanessa)
"Thanks.  I love you, too."  (Quentin)

"Be careful and watch out for all those gold diggers."  (Vanessa)

A thank you to friends and family from Quentin.

The billboard they put up in his hometown of Rochester, NY.

"That was fun.  I always love seeing Quentin.  Now before I leave and go enjoy the Mother's Day dinner my husband and kids are attempting to cook, I promised Vanessa I would get pictures taken of Dasia's new dress."  (Vanessa)

"So without further ado...."  (Vanessa)

"Hello Ms. Dasia.  Come on in and let's chat for a second."  (Vanessa)

"Happy Mother's Day to you.  How are you?"  (Vanessa)
"Thank you,  Happy Mother's Day to you as well.  I must say, I am doing great.  I have no complaints."  (Dasia)

"That's always nice to hear.  We aren't going to keep you here long.  I agreed to get some photos of your new dress.  It's very pretty.  I love the contrast."  (Vanessa)
"Thanks.  It's so comfortable."  (Dasia)
"You know all the ladies here in town want to know the secret to getting custom made outfits.  Care to enlighten us?"  (Vanessa)
"There really is no secret.  It's all about supply and demand.  You skinny girls have so many off the rack options, that it's just not worth it to spend the time making you custom pieces."  (Dasia)
"Sort of discouraging to hear, but I guess I understand.  We skinny girls do have a ton of clothes around here.  I guess if we got together and organized it all, we would be surprised at all the pieces we have already.  (pause)  But let's get these pictures taken, so you can go and enjoy the rest of your special day."  (Vanessa)

This is the sample dress.  I need to tweak that neckline.  This is done in knit fabrics.  It is the exact same style as the denim dress with the topstitching  (shown below).

Same princess style dress in denim with topstitching along the princess seams.

Don't Sleep on These

A couple of weeks ago Muff, of Hey It's Muff, did a blog post about new Barbie accessories.  I had seen that some new ones were coming, but had not seen them in the stores.  The post prompted me to go look again.  They were probably there before, but the HORRIBLE new Walmart display of doll items is to blame I'm sure.  I had to search high and low, but I found four of the sets.  The only one I didn't find was the sushi set, which I would like mainly for the cups.

Roberta is in cleaning mode.  Her newest set is sitting next to her on the sofa.  The bucket on the floor is from a vacuum cleaning set that came out a few years ago.

These are the four items that come in the set.  The brush isn't very clear (still not back to my photoediting program), but the handle is lime green.  Although these sets are designed to sit in the pieces of furniture with holes, they sit just fine without being in the furniture.

Just in time.  Look at the dust build up on that piano!

Roberta hops on that immediately.

After cleaning, she throws on a new apron and goes downstairs to prepare some cupcakes.

The new baking set comes with the five pieces you see here.  How can you pass this up for $2.44!  I would have bought the heart shaped measuring spoons for that price.  Again, the pieces are designed to fit into one of the tables with holes, which Roberta actually has, but it's not necessary.  The pieces sit on the table without being in holes.

The third set was the makeup set.  Comes with the bag, the mirror, the brush, the hair dryer, the blush compact, the makeup brush, and the lipstick with the removable top.

The three makeup pieces fit nicely in the makeup bag.

I ran across the kit with the guitar.  The last thing we needed around here was another guitar.  I'm not sure what the two other purple pieces are.  But then I saw the tambo.....

The tambo and the nicely fitting headphones.  Add new color to headphones and possibly to the tambo, and we are set.

What southern, black Baptist church you know that doesn't have a tambourine jingling?  They may not have them jingling today, but back in the day..... I just had to have the tambo.  Don't sleep on these sets.  They are worth the $2.44 and in most cases I would pay even more for them.

Hey guys, it's me again, Vanessa's doll alter ego.  I'm the one who asked to rent out Roberta's place for tomorrow.  Her house is so centrally located and I have planned to bring in a couple people to help me give an update on the real Vanessa.  She's been having a rough time the past couple of months.  I've invited her doctors to stop by tomorrow and give an update.  Don't fret, she just had to go back to radiation and chemo.  I've also invited Quentin, our godson, to share some fabulous news.  I think Dasia will be stopping by because as soon as Vanessa recovered for two days after getting chemo on Tuesday, she hopped up and made Dasia a new dress on Thursday.  What was she doing while getting chemo?  Crocheting on a Dasia sweater.  I don't know how Dasia does it.  As you can see I'm still in the same outfit from the last time I was in a post.  I'm hoping she will have some energy to have me looking a little more fly tomorrow.   Oh and by the way, when I say tomorrow, that could very well mean in a couple of days.  Hope to see you back.
